Asked for Tip

At Uber, we’re committed to supporting our partners by providing them the feedback needed to improve their star ratings. In recent driver surveys, rider feedback was the #1 item drivers requested from us, and we listened! In the past week, we received the below feedback from your riders.

Asked for Tip

What does Asked for Tip mean?

A rider wrote to us stating that you requested a tip for their trip. Uber is a completely cashless app and asking for cash can confuse and frustrate riders. All riders will be charged for trips through credit card payment once the trip is completed. We are able to adjust fares after the fact if you email us in and let us know something happened.

How can I improve?

The best way to avoid the ‘Asked for Tip’ complaint is to not ask for cash as a form of payment and inform riders that their credit card will automatically be charged for the trip based on distance and time traveled. Note, if a rider offers you a tip, you should remind them that tipping is not necessary, however, if they still insist, you can accept it - you earned it!
