Anita, a Louisiana native from the small town of Simmesport, LA, never thought she would end up on the big screen. Last year, Anita spent the summer filming in Jackson, LA for an upcoming major motion-picture coming out this fall. “I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be a film like that. It was an amazing experience.“
After a series of family tragedies in hometown of Simmesport, Anita was looking for a new start and made the decision to move to New Orleans, attending UNO to finish her degree in Film, Theatre and Communications. After a series of lucrative film opportunities, Anita needed something to supplement her income between film gigs and to support her family of 5 as a single mother.
After hearing about Uber online, Anita found that driving with Uber not only helped support her family financially but also allowed her to continue to pursue her dreams of working in the film industry. “I drive with Uber to be able to pay my bills between film jobs. The flexibility of driving for Uber helps me to be able to pursue my passion while still being able to pay my bills.”
Driving with Uber has also allowed Anita to explore and see New Orleans in a unique way. In her free time, Anita says she loves to play tourist in New Orleans with her friends.
“We sometimes take for granted that we live in New Orleans and the way people see in New Orleans when they visit. Take a carriage ride, walk along the river, go on the steamboats… there are unlimited things to do. The history here is so rich and there is so much character to the city.”
So what’s the secret to a 5-star ride according to Anita? It’s all about the little things. “I call my little bag of candy my trip lagniappe. I’ve lost count of how many times my candy basket has landed on Snapchat.”
