Transitioning from military to civilian life can be challenging, but one person who’s done it exceptionally well is John Johnson, Major, U.S. Army (Ret.). He’s more well known as JJ and since retiring from the U.S. Army, he now finds himself as race director for many of Honolulu’s largest running events including the Honolulu Marathon.
In his spare time, JJ drives with Uber. He enjoys driving part-time and tells us that the people he meets from all over the world are one of the biggest highlights. Helping people get where they need to go is a big plus. But flexibility is the biggest appeal to him. “I drive because of the flexibility that it gives me. I can turn it on and drive for a while and then turn it off”.
At Uber, we understand that veterans are some of our nation’s most talented and skilled leaders. That’s why we’re excited to empower members of the military community like JJ to be their own boss and enjoy the flexibility that comes with driving with Uber. He’s just one of many driver-partners you’ll find on the road in Hawaii that have a military background.
There’s a number of reasons why driving with Uber is a great option for military members. We’ve found that veterans maintain higher driver ratings on average than non-veteran partners, and we receive frequent positive feedback about them. We are proud to be able to offer flexible income opportunities to members of this community. We’re looking forward to partnering with many more!
